San Miguel - Around Town

Please enjoy these pictures from our trip to San Miguel!

San Miguel Botanical Gardens

On New Years Day, we ventured to one of the few places that was actually open.  The San Miguel Botanical Gardens.

While a majority of our vacation was on our feet, we were glad we found a taxi to go to this one!  I am certain we climbed 1,000 vertical feet up to this area, and it was well worth the $2 taxi ride...  (side note - we did walk back home from this adventure, with a pit stop at the market for some snacks!)

The great part about vacations to different areas, is seeing what their "natural settings" contain.  As it is a mountainous desert area, there were lots of cacti and other non-Minnesota plants.

Jamie's favorite - succulents

Really tall and wide cactus

Mexico's version of hens and chicks

The man made lake that used to provide water and electricity to the city

Hard to tell from the photo, but the gorge is huge

In the background, pipe that used to bring water to the city

A view of the city in the distance

a bit of art within the park as well

This was a great out of the city spot.  They even had a small kids park, so we will be here again for sure!

San Miguel ATV Adventure

Please enjoy of few photos of our ATV adventure!

First church in San Miguel - build on pyramid ruins

The bridge (whats left of it) on the "Silver Road"

This was a great way to see not only the city, but also the area beyond the city.  Highly recommended!

Mexico Trip!

We finally made it on our ten year anniversary trip - it happened to be three years late, but it was well worth the wait!

Instead of capturing images and then doing a big "picture dump" when we return, we opted to post via Instagram throughout the trip.  Please follow adam_brodd at Instagram to view them!

North Shore

Our 2nd annual late summer trip to the North Shore was filled with fantastic weather and family fun!

We stopped at Spirit Mountain on the way up to do the alpine slide and the zip line.  The girls really enjoy the slide, but I don't think we will do the zip line again.  The line is too long for the 15 seconds of excitement.

We met up with the extended family at the cottages.  While Adam spent the day fishing on Lake Superior, the rest of the crew headed up to the Falls.

The water was even warm enough to wade in... We did see some people swimming, but no one in our group was brave (stupid?) enough to do that!

We even had time to stop at Tom's Logging Camp on the way back home.  Blake and the girls had a great time finding the hidden horseshoes and also feeding the critters...

We can't wait until next summer, when we attend the 3rd annual north shore trip!

State Fair

Catching up (again) on some older posts that we never published.

The girls joined Grandma for the annual State Fair day.  The weather was perfect and the girls had plenty of energy to last all day long.

Corn on the cob - Violet's new summer favorite!

Sylvia is the corn in the cob!

one of the many places to hang (literally) at the fair

enjoying an afternoon treat (one of many!)

I think the tattoos finally are off her arms, about 2 months later!

I am sure when State Fair time rolls around again in 2017, the girls will once again venture out and dad will enjoy a nice day away from the crowds!

Happy 8th Birthday Sylvia!

Sylvia turned 8 this year!  While summer birthdays can be tough to schedule with friends, we were able to get a few to come over to celebrate this day with her.  This year's theme - Sushi!

Quick photo shoot with sister prior to the friends showing up

Crafting time - this craft was origami

and making jewelry

Minnie Mouse was the special guest at the lunch table!

Birthday cupcakes - everyone gets to blow out the candles

The crazy kids group photo!

Happy birthday Sylvia!  May this year be your best year yet!
